Marine Grade 5083 H116 Aluminum Plate / Sheet with BV Certificate

Common tempers include H116, H321, and H112, widely used in yacht and cruise ship hulls. The 5083-H116 marine-grade aluminum plate has passed BV (Bureau Veritas) certification, proving its compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations and shipbuilding industry standards. It is legally applicable to hull structures, decks, superstructures, and other key components.

In addition, marine aluminum products from MC Aluminum have also passed certifications from CCS, ABS, LR, and DNV classification societies, meeting construction standards for vessels in various global maritime regions and enhancing international competitiveness.

5083-H116 is a high-magnesium alloy with excellent strength among non-heat-treatable alloys. It offers good corrosion resistance, machinability, and can be aesthetically enhanced through anodizing. It also has excellent arc welding performance. The main alloying element is magnesium, giving it superb weldability and corrosion resistance with moderate strength.

Because of its outstanding anti-corrosion capabilities, 5083 is extensively used in marine applications such as shipbuilding, as well as in automotive, aircraft weld components, metro systems, fire-safe pressure vessels (like liquid tankers, refrigerated trucks, reefer containers), refrigeration units, TV towers, drilling rigs, transportation equipment, missile parts, and armored vehicles.

Why Choose 5083 H116 Aluminum Plate for Marine Applications?

1.Outstanding Corrosion Resistance:
In the H116 temper, 5083 aluminum exhibits excellent resistance to exfoliation corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-rich marine environments-crucial for hulls exposed to seawater long term.

2.High Strength & Excellent Weldability:
Maintains the inherent strength of 5083 alloy while offering superior weldability-essential for complex hull structures, ensuring welded joints retain structural integrity.

3.Lightweight Advantage:
With significantly lower density than traditional steel, 5083 aluminum helps reduce hull weight, improving vessel speed, reducing fuel consumption, and increasing cargo capacity.

4.Excellent Formability:
Hot-rolled surface is smooth and supports secondary processing such as cutting, bending, and punching-ideal for various shipbuilding design needs.
